They are a little over 5 inches from the top that hooks onto the rack, to the bottom where the handle rest' on. I love these hooks. they are very sturdy.

Without putting a micrometer on it, I estimate its about a 16th of an inch in diameter, Pretty much like an old 1950's wire hanger.
