Clean and Easy Homemade Cranberry Sauce

This time of year I crave the tart and sweet goodness of cranberry sauce. I put it on everything from chicken, fish, crostini, my super-seed quinoa crackers or a beautiful wheel of brie! As my tip in the picture above indicates, I also enjoy adding it to hummus as well! Not only that, but I add a 1/4 cup to my Detox drink which includes 1 tsp apple cider vinegar and the juice of a whole lemon (1/8 cup). The perfect antioxidant boost!

Clean and Easy Homemade Cranberry Sauce

1 bag organic cranberries

1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed or organic preferably)

1 cup water

1/4-1/2 cup maple syrup or organic coconut sugar (depending on how sweet and tart you like it)

1 tsp spice choice (today I used pumpkin pie spice, but you could use, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, etc.

Add all ingredients to a pot over medium heat and bring to boil. Turn down heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Cool and serve.

Buon Appetito!
