I find snacks can be very problematic for many people. I like to have some go-to-snacks stashed in my bag – often when I want them, it is for an energy boost. If I’m prepared it’s fine, but & I’ll be honest – bad choices can be made if I’m “hangry”.
It doesn’t have to be hard, or fancy. Here are some ideas to add to your repertoire.
🍓 Fruit – yup, it can be as easy as that. I love berries when in season. Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, cherries - I don’t care which). Oh & apples…
🥑 Guacamole or hummus or salsa with vegie sticks (carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, sugar snap peas – whatever). Ideally I love homemade dips, so I know what is in them but there are some great commercial choices available.
🍿 Popcorn. Ditch the chips & try some fresh popcorn. You are in control of toppings maybe try a sprinkle of herbs.
🤔 Make your own trail mix. I love some macadamias, almonds, & pistachios, with a couple of chocolate coated coffee beans, pepitas & some craisins. Delish & you can tailor it to your own choice.
🥚 Boiled eggs. Easy peasey & they are already wrapped for transport – winning.
It can be so easy to fall into the convenience trap rather than looking for healthy options. Remember, even some freezer friendly items can be handy for the lunchbox such as mini meatballs or stewed apples.
