The Spa at Séc-he in Palm Springs is now open — Here’s what it’s like inside

There is a new wellness center on the block in Palm Springs.

The Spa at Séc-he, owned by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and operated by Agua Caliente Casinos, is located at the corner of North Indian Canyon Drive and East Tahquitz Canyon Way and across the street from Agua Caliente Casino Palm Springs.

It is the first phase of the Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza, with a second and final phase expected to be finished by the end of the year. That final bit of construction will include the 48,000-square-foot Agua Caliente Cultural Museum and the Oasis Trail.

The the Spa at Séc-he was inspired by the Agua Caliente tribe’s traditions, such as basket weaving, pottery (ollas) and botanical elements. Séc-he means boiling waters and references the hot springs that have been a centerpiece of the tribe’s culture.

“We carefully curated The Spa at Séc-he menu to showcase wellness treatments that speak to the importance of healing and wellness to the Tribe, their rich culture, traditions, and also to the current state of the wellness industry to ensure our offerings align with the most luxurious and desired spa experiences on the market,” Spencer wrote.

The new spa opened to the public on Tuesday, April 4. Guests must be 18-or-older to enjoy the spa and its amenities.

Here’s what you can expect at The Spa at Séc-he in Palm Springs.

Mineral Baths

The spa’s centerpiece is its 22 private mineral baths that derive from the hot mineral spring in the ground, averaging about 105 degrees. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians have been a steward of the spring for generations and has shared these healing waters for more than 130 years.

Guests can enjoy the clothing-optional 15-minute private mineral baths included with any spa treatment reservation or as part of the Taking of the Waters Day Pass.

The pass is $145 and includes access to the pool deck, fitness center, men’s and women’s lockers with aromatherapy showers, a eucalyptus steam room, a menthol inhalation sauna with a cold experience shower, two relaxation areas on the men’s and women’s side with acoustic wellness vibrational loungers and acoustic zero-gravity vibration chairs for binaural therapy, grounded tranquility rooms with zero-gravity conductive chairs, and a lounge area with two halotherapy salt caves. Private spa suites are also available.

Treatments

In addition to the mineral baths, the property boasts a 73,000-square-foot premier spa complex with 15 different treatment rooms. The treatment menu includes massages, facials, floatation, cryotherapy, body scrubs and wraps, nail care and a hair salon. Most massages and facials run between $245-$325, depending on the treatment and the duration. Some spa treatments include the Relaxing Desert Rain Massage starting at $245, and the Blue Sage Botanical Mud Wrap for $230.

The spa also offers wellness and couples packages that include the 90-minute Desert Prickly Pear Scrub and Massage for $320 and the Couples Séc-he Signature with a custom gemstone massage and heated scrub for $690. Prices for wellness packages are $320-$490 and couples packages fun $470-$690.

Amenities

The facility includes a nearly 17,000-square-foot pool deck area featuring an outdoor eatery, a main pool with a waterfall grotto, lounging chairs on the pool’s tanning deck, and a separate zero-edge mineral pool that resembles a beach.

The space houses four luxury cabanas that can host up to six guests and are furnished with a plush couch, misters, a mini fridge, a TV and a seasonal fruit tray. Cabanas are $300 on weekdays and $375 on weekends and holidays. Premium day beds for two guests are available for $200 on weekdays and $250 on weekends and holidays.

Another amenity on the property is the 2,300-square-foot fitness facility equipped with treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, weight machines and dumbbells.

Eateries

The Spa at Séc-he features two Mediterranean-inspired eateries: the indoor Málmal Café and the outdoor Pál Bar on the pool deck. Both spots serve sandwiches, wraps, salads and small bites such as hummus and avocado toast and the chicken salad sandwich.

Most food items are served in both venues and cost between $10-$17. The most notable difference is that the poolside Pál Bar serves flatbreads and entrees such as miso salmon with wild rice and soy butter that cost a little over $20.
